Atkinson Returns Behind Grizzlys Bench

The Olds Grizzlys of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) have announced that General Manager/Head Coach, Scott Atkinson, will return for his first full season with the team, after taking over late last season.

Atkinson served as head coach of the University of Calgary Dinos and the Mount Royal College Cougars (as they were known then) and is one of the developers of the Edge School of Excellence hockey program. He joined the Grizzlys late in the 2019-20 season, coming over from the Salmon Arm Silverbacks of the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL).

Grizzlys vice president, Tent Wilhauk, issued a statement citing his excitement at bringing back Atkinson for his first full season behind the bench in Olds.

“We are excited to have Scotty leading the Grizzlys organization in the role of GM & Head Coach, his resume and recuiting experience are unmatched and along with Pete and Austin, we can’t wait to get the season started. Its 
exciting times ahead for the Grizzlys organization,” Wilhauk stated.

Also returning is Pete deGraaf, who is heading into his third season as the Grizzlys Assistant Coach. It was also announced by the team that their new Assistant Coach (Skills Development) and Team Equipment Manager & Trainer is Austin Ehret, who spent the last three seasons at the Edge School in Calgary, Alta.
