The Olds Grizzlys are taking a more modern approach in terms of their organizational dealings this season.
It wasn’t the results the Grizzlys were hoping for last season, but a new year means new optimism and a more focused intention towards addressing organizational needs. In particular, Grizzlys head coach / GM, Joe Murphy, started by taking a more detailed look at the recruitment process and began bringing in the right mix of players to help reboot the Grizzlys program.
“We had some conscious recruiting this year for the first time in a long time,” explains Murphy.
“We wanted to make a conscious effort to get more athletic and more skilled and I think at the end of the day we accomplished both of those things,” Murphy continued. “That should translate into a little more management of the puck and a little more ‘modern-day’ hockey for us.”
Turning the fortunes around in Olds will take some patience, but it would appear the Grizzlys are at least pointed in the right direction.
