Matt Keillor has been removed from his duties as Head Coach and Associate General Manager with the Grande Prairie Storm of the Alberta Junior Hockey League.
Keillor became head coach midway through the 2016-2017 season, and helped lead the Storm to three years of post season hockey, including a second round appearance in 2017-2018. It was a tough decision to make, according a statement released by the team.
“This wasn’t an easy decision to make; Matt played an integral role in bringing the Storm back to the playoffs, developing our team, and recruiting young talent,” expressed Mark Bomersback, General Manager of the Storm. “We take pride in the program we are developing here in Grande Prairie, and we feel this is the best decision for our organization moving forward.”
Storm associate coach, Ryan Aasman, will take over as Interim Head Coach duties for the remainder of the season.
